Steps to Membership at FPC Marshfield

Who can become a member?

  • Any person who responds in trust to God’s grace in Jesus Christ and desires to become part of the membership and ministry of First Presbyterian Church.
  • No persons shall be denied membership because of race, ethnic origin, gender identity, worldly condition, or any other reason not related to profession of faith. We extend the fellowship of Christ to all persons. “Failure to do so constitutes a rejection of Christ himself and causes a scandal to the gospel.” That’s a quote from our constitution.

How would I go about becoming a member here?

  • We offer Investigating Church Membership classes, as needed, usually about three times a year.
  • The classes run for 4 weeks on Sundays after worship and are intended for anyone who simply wants to learn more about what it means to be a church, a Presbyterian, and a member. Those who decide they would like to become a member are received soon thereafter with joy. Others who would like to wait, are welcome to continue participating as “friends” of FPC until they feel ready to join.
