Forum for All (previously known as Adult Forum)
We are adopting a new name but maintaining the same mission of bringing discussions of interest to the congregation most Sundays after the church service. The term “Adult Forum” was first used when there was an adult Sunday school class offered while the children and youth were in their Sunday school classes. Over the years the focus has at times been on strictly faith-based content and in more recent years this has evolved into a time during which many topics of interest in the community and world, including preservation of our earth, as well as some very thought provoking DVD series discussions have occurred. The schedule shows we will continue to have a variety of topics offered. Thus far our schedule includes the following:
September 1 – no forum
September 8 – no forum – Sundae Sunday – Rally Day Sunday
September 15 – Bruce Krawisz speaking to the health impact of global warming – sponsored by the local Green Team
September 22 – Outreach Highlights
September 29 – Kathy Meyer – “Everyone Needs a Community”, an initiative to provide affordable housing and other activities for adults older than 55 who have autistic spectrum symptoms.
October 6 – Mark Borchardt – Water quality and related health issues, sponsored by the local Green Team
October 13 – Discussion #1 of 3 addressing the abortion issue; review given of Presbyterian Church of the United States of America (PCUSA) information on the topic as well as our congregation’s and other participant’s thoughts to be discussed. Pastor Laurie Brubaker Davis and Dan Crump will facilitate the discussions.
October 20 – Discussion #2 of the abortion issue.
October 27 – Discussion #3 of the abortion issue.
All members of the community are welcome to join us for any of these topics. If you would like, join us for the church service at 9:30, obtain a cup of coffee provided for fellowship after church and join us in the parlor from 10:50 – 12:00 for the presentation. Questions/requests for topics may be directed to Nadene Lautenschlager – email@example.com or 715-384-5217.
